In 1975, Jo Pease, Val Marmillion and Karl White established the "5 Year Club" in honor of the 5th anniversary of the Louisiana Youth Seminar. This honor is presented to staff members who have served on staff for four years, with an additional one year being counted from their delegate experience. On Tuesday night of LYS, the new inductees are recognized in a special ceremony at the Cajun Cookout. Each inductee is personally recognized and is presented with a "Blue 5 Year Club Shirt." Over the years, this night has become special for all the delegates as well and it is often the turning point in a delegate's experience at LYS. The newly inducted 5 Year Club members express to the delegates the impact that LYS has had on their lives and their love and support for LYS and the current delegation.
